So, I thought this was a book about a teenage girl who was raped in her neighborhood but didn't know who did it. I found out that it was a coming of age story of the teenage boy who lived down the street and had a weird obsession with the raped girl.

There were some great parts of this book. The parts that felt like a memoir and a self-help pamphlet could have been left out.

I wanted to like this more because much of the prose was so beautiful but poor little rich girl books just make me cringe. And she kept describing headaches in such a dramatic manner. I just didn't feel sorry for the main character but that is ok because she felt so sorry for herself.

Fascinating story! It's really scary how easy it is to get misdiagnosed.

Meh. Some funny parts but too much self importance in the name of religion turned me off.

Descending into madness and alcoholism and still able to find beauty in the world. Well, the world as it was in Big Sur.

Thou mayest. Two words. Two sons. Too many lies that complicate.

What a beautifully told saga. Yes, this story has been compared with the story of Cain and Abel and I can see why. There is so much more to this story than a correlation to the biblical tale. Long but interesting and downright impressive.

I've happily lost sleep to this book. This is one of the best books I've ever read.

Oh, and my little town of Valdosta, GA is mentioned.
