So, I didn't really care for this book the first 3/4 of the way through, but it was an easy read so I kept going. Then, I rather fell in love with it for the last part. It was a sweet story from a perspective that deserves to be told, and a cute, easy read to boot.

I like this series, but Ms. Rowling has a dark side that's unsettling to me. I wish the crimes weren't so grizzly in this book, and the 2nd one in the series. I'll read the next one too though, because I want to know what happens with Robin and Strike.

*Also, although Strike tends to drink Doom Bar beer, or a strong tea in the mornings, these books always want to make me curl up in a wood paneled and brass adorned pub with a Guinness!

eastbaykate I agree about the grizzly murders. I love Robin and Strike. For the most part I liked book 3 more. I don't like Robin's boyfriend/fiancé - he reminds me of Umbridge(from the HP series). I believe book 4 is coming out in 2017. 8y
BethE3 @eastbaykate Yes, this was better than the 2nd book. Looking forward to the 4th still :) 8y

I read this book for my September book club meeting. I don't like writing mean book reviews online, so I'll just say . . . it wasn't for me.

eastbaykate Good to know! 8y

I really loved this book, mostly for the ways it intertwined everyone's stories to show how food can connect us all in meaningful ways. I also love books with strong female characters and where each chapter is told from the perspective of a different character, so this was right up my alley.
