Dune | Frank Herbert

As always, the book is better that the movie. The movie will always try to exagerate everything. Why? The book was good enough, why to try to exagerate eveything?

My Early Life: 1874-1904 | Winston Churchill

This is not the exact quote but it is the essence of it "While I was trying to show my knowledge they were trying to show my ignorance" and it was about the ages when Winston Churchill went to school. In many countries this is still accurate and so up to date. And it is sad.

Easy to read, hard to digest. For someone like me to whom the unfair facts hurts deeply the soul, but also like the books full of adventure and divine justice I recomand it. The human nature, the privilege of being powerful over someone's life and the choice someone can make having that power, the education or the lack of it, dark souls but also the ones that brightens their ways, all can be found in this book.

One Hundred Years of Solitude | Marquez, Gabriel Garcia

Wonderfull book! One of the best I've ever read. I cannot find my words to describe this book. It was like reading all the history of the whole world in one book. War, love, family, blessings and curses. It was like speaking with my great-great grandma.

Love in the Time of Cholera | Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Pickpick

I started to read it 4 years ago and then I paused until a few days ago. I am not sure how everyone else felt this book but for me was the beauty of the ugliness. Except one episode that made me cringe, probably those who read felt the same about the relationship between Florentino Ariza and America Vicuna. But, the rest of the book is magical. Not good or bad, only magical. The magic of other times.

Becoming | Michelle Obama
Pickpick

I read this book page by page discovering a new world. Not necessary the world of the First Lady but the world of powerful women. The life of a woman who started with all the obstacles possible in her way, as well as with all the strength. Wonderful lady! I recommend this book especially if your life is at a point of crossroads.

I must be honest as I child I was only watching the Disney series. As a grown-up I've read it and I've realised that it's hearth breaking since the beginning. Like many other children stories, as an adult you will discover another world. And like superheroes in US, these stories have been created to bring hope and joy where there was none left.

Tom Sawyer | Mark Twain
Pickpick

I perfectly understand now why a teacher would recommend Tom Sawyer. If between you, there are people that want to start writing books I think a book like this will teach a good lesson. And actually all Mark Twain's works will do the work. They will teach common sense of writing, will teach you to be an observer, and also what it's not common sense in writing. As a wanting to be writer I would recommend it!

Nute I reread this book as an adult and I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it. Mark Twain is a talented storyteller. And he had a fabulous sense of humor. 3y
BeatrixNBooks Indeed he had. I'm still surprised that many people does not like him. 3y

“Lady-bug, lady-bug, fly away home, your house is on fire, your children‘s alone,” that makes me laugh not because of its meaning but because as a child I was thinking if I sing to the snails they will come out of their shells 😂😂😂😂 and how many other superstitions!

I started to reread this book. I know it is mainly for children but I cannot help myself from laughing and reading. Give it a try! It will remind you about your childhood and will make you smile during hard times, I promise!😄🤭

The Book Thief | Markus Zusak

All I could say is that if you want to learn to write and read no one and nothing can stop you. You may burn your fingers to save a book or to save yourself from ignorance. For books and preserving of knowledge many people will do the same and have no regrets. For each book it is at least one reader in this world. For each endangered book there is at least one thief to save it.

I read them really quick but I would not say I am totally impressed. I like the way the author wrote them, but what I do not like is that almost all the stories have the base of Grimm Brothers' stories. It's my opinion only. But at least for the surprise of descovering every creature's true nature, I would recommend to give it a try.

To start with most important idea: the book is not easy to read for everyone, but the story of Scott Berkun working at Wordpress is a lesson for life. You cannot climb a mountain only for a view, to see the top of it you should be prepared for the journey. You cannot reach the top without training your body. You have the possibility to take an helicopter but would you miss the beauty of a journey?

American Dirt | Jeanine Cummins
Pickpick

I heard it is a controversial book before I've read it. To be honest, after reading it, all I could say it is like "Educated" by Tara Westover, only a wonderful book about lives that many of us know nothing about. It describes the advanture that any mother would take to save her child. It is about a life being changed 180 degrees in no time. You will meet "La Bestia", which will not be a pleasure.

Il nome della rosa | Umberto Eco

"The name of the rose" it is the book that gave me the possibility to be out of the line with my Bachelor thesis. I chose a linguistic subject, I read it in 2 languages to find connections and discrepancies between languages. It is a book that will always be close to my heart.

MayJasper Wow. Which two languages did you study it in? 😊 3y
BeatrixNBooks MayJasper it was Italian (after only 3 years of studying) and my native language, Romanian. If I could find it at that time probably I would read it in English as well. 3y

I've never thought I could read such a dramatic story in tears and still loving it. 10/10
