A Picture Book of Abraham Lincoln by David Adler is a biography. This is a fun way for kids to learn history. It is a simplified version of his life with very cool illustrations. This would be great for lower elementary students. I included a read aloud because sometimes hearing a book read by a few different people helps kids remember it better. https://youtu.be/2DnyTiJum5M #UCFLAE3414sp17

DrSpalding Mr. Adler is a favorite children's biography author of mine. Don't forget that he also wrote the Cam Jansen series. 7y
DanielleS This book seems great for younger children to understand who he was! Great choice! 7y
christinathorpe Brad Meltzer has a great book on Abraham Lincoln as well called "I Am Abraham"! I'll check this one out as well 7y

The Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen is a one of a kind animal fantasy book. It is my daughter's favorite book and we read it almost every night. We basically rap the words to the book because it rhymes and has amazing flow. It is about a fish who basically has "resting b**** face" ?. The link is a song (not rap) that could be used in the classroom https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gynYtBmYlnk #UCFlae3414sp17

AmberC She's adorable and I love the pout pout fish! Plus that song sounds so cool. 7y

It would be a good book for the first week of class due to content regarding going to school for the first time. Also a good book for a guided reading on the day the teacher goes over the letter B. Ten Little Caterpillars by: Bill Martin is a realistic fiction book about the life cycle of ten caterpillars. It could be used in a counting unit for younger grades, as well as a unit on types of caterpillars and butterflies and their life cycles (as included in the link). https://www.teachpreschool.org/2014/07/17/ten-little-caterpillars-in-a-jar/ #UCFLAE3414sp17

Fancy Nancy: Our Thanksgiving Banquet by: Jane O'Connor is a realistic fiction book about Nancy's thanksgiving with her family. It is a great book to teach traditions or history, or for literature circles. It has some difficult vocabulary (banquet, destination...) so depending on the grade you would have to decide how to use it in your classroom http://www.reallifeathome.com/thanksgiving-unit-study-for-preschool-and-kinderga... #UCFLAE3414sp17

AmberC Fancy Nancy looks so exciting and the pictures are so pretty and colorful. I like the idea of having recipes and other books on the resource. 7y
DrSpalding I like the emphasis on vocabulary. Primary students enjoy this series. 7y

Uses for Mooses and Other Popular Pets by Mike Thaler (Illustrated by: Jerry Smath) is a funny animal fantasy book. I included a link for an animal habitat lesson because the book talks about unrealistic places and uses for animals. I thought this would be a silly way to introduce real habitats of animals for a science unit in the classroom http://www.discoveryeducation.com/teachers/free-lesson-plans/animals-around-us.c... #UCFlae3414sp17

HayleeM I've never read this book but it looks so cute. I love that it encorporate other subjects into reading! Great resource that looks like a fun and engaging lesson plan. 7y
DrSpalding Thaler is known for his black lagoon series. 7y

Sheep in a Jeep by: Nancy Shaw is a very cute TL folktale. It is about a group of sheep who get into a bind while driving their jeep. It has a lot of rhyming and very good illustrations.
