Although beautifully written, this novel clearly demonstrates that the gap between the haves and have nots so long ago was no different from present day. What was scandalous then wouldn‘t rate the bat of an eye today.

The most monumentally boring book I have ever read. Perhaps my brain hasn‘t evolved enough to appreciate this “classic.” Don‘t waste your time.

That this book received lauditory kudos as high journalism is ridiculous. 200 pages max would have been totally sufficient. Don't waste your time.

Steinbeck is just the best at molding his characters and making you love them. The description of the first party for Doc is hilarious.

Fly the Hindenburg with a combination of fact and fiction to its ultimate demise. Part history and part mystery--enjoyed the journey and Lawhon's unique character and story development.

Although this was about bubonic plague, it is an in-depth treatise on the human psyche when people are in forced confinement. Not a quick read, but food for thought for big city dwellers.

Like The Nightingale, this takes place during WWII in German-occupied France. It is a fast read because you simply cannot stop once you get into the story. Suspense, intrigue, brutality, compassion -- they're all there. Belfoure's characters show the full range of human emotion under stress.

Just finished The Call of the Wild and The Sea Wolf. Experiencing man's cruelty and humanity through an animal's soul provides a unique perspective and London did it masterfully.

Tim O'Brien brought home the horrors and senselessness of war. Although this was Viet Nam, the experiences of these young men could apply to any armed conflict. Old men wage war, young men pay the price. Reads like a diary and flows like a novel.

Struggling through this one. Not even a close second to "Mockingbird."

Ho hum. Only 88 pages so a quick read but not the "page turner" it was made out to be.

A real page turner. You can't be dry eyed at the end. Can't wait to read more be Kristin Hannah -- a superb writer.
