so-soI loved the idea of this book, and there were brilliant moments throughout, but, on the whole, it didn't work for me. There was just too much going on, from the book within the book to the lengthy one-sentence passage supposedly from the mind of a 10-year-old. This kind of formal experimentation can be emotionally distancing, and that was the case here for me. The form overwhelmed the often compelling story.
