so-soHard to criticise a book that‘s about something so horrific isn‘t it? Just a so-so for me, I think I should have just read Dita Kraus‘s own memoir. She has said this is a very fictionalised account (even that these parents were nothing like her actual parents) and then that reduced the story in my eyes.

BookwormM I had that issue with Boy in the Striped Pajamas so many Holocaust survivors saying it trivialised their experience 3y

TrishB @BookwormM the one redeeming factor with The Boy is that is was written for younger people and I think it did help them have conversations about it - I know my two both read about age 10 in school and it was eye opening for them. 3y

Caroline2 Oh that‘s disappointing. Hmm, think I‘ll skip and read her memoir instead. I generally think memoirs on the Holocaust are much better than the fiction books. They never seem to get the tone right somehow. 3y
