Description
Every hour in India, one woman is murdered for a dowry. The Burning Bride follows the story of Uma, a newly wed woman. She starts her new life with many dreams. However, her dreams turn into nightmares when her parents are unable to fulfil the dowry demands made by Madhu, her mother-in-law. The heaven she had imagined turns into a hell, and the worst part is; there appears to be no escape.

Billypar Evil on a scale that is hard to comprehend. I think the song is about this same issue based on the lyrics. It wouldn't surprise me if the title was a nod to this collection either, but I never heard of it before. Thanks for putting on my radar! 6y

Billypar I got curious and went down a little internet rabbit hole, including watching the music video which answered none of my questions, but was an extremely creepy claymation gem! I found an interview that doesn't mention book or film but confirms it is about the same practice and that some of what she witnessed during a trip to Nepal inspired it: 6y
