I had meant to read this for Disability Pride month but didn't quite get it completed in time, but that is okay! We should be reading disability rep books all year round. This book is not for anyone prudish. Our MC Elliott and his long time boyfriend are struggling, or so Elliott thinks, and so they start experimenting E starts it by secretly seeing a sex worker and then things start to spiral. I really enjoyed this. The descriptions of E's 👇

ChaoticMissAdventures Physical limitations and how that affects him emotionally and socially were explained will and not in a way that felt like O'Connell was talking down to his audience. I thought the use of River as a character was really well done, and the ending was very sweet. My only criticism is the Pollyanna look at alcohol at the end, it got a bit preachy/cheesy for me. But overall highly recommend! 3w

One of the most beautifully written stories I have read and now in my top 3 books. It‘s about the loneliness, and love between two men on the 80‘s in Europe during the aids crisis. It stands tall with Baldwin and is haunting knowing the author‘s life was also cut short. A tragedy for literature.

Jas16 Just put this on hold at the library. Cannot wait to read it after your review. 2mo

I am ready for some summer reading!! I have 3 books to finish up for June which has been super grey and gloomy here in PDX. But July is almost here and the sun has agreed to come out!

Pulling all of my summer feeling books ☀️🎉🌈

CBee @ChaoticMissAdventures I, too, got into it during lockdown. Once I discovered I could keep them alive, I was hooked! Just bought three new Hoya starter plants last week 😂😂 2mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @CBee currently all my plant money is going to this weirdo patch on my patio where I am trying to grow mint ground cover and the squirrels keep digging it up and taking it. I just put in a huge order for more at the nursery, like a crazy person telling the lady the squirrel will not win this battle 😂 2mo
CBee @ChaoticMissAdventures omg squirrels are the worst!! They eat all the bird food I put out!! 2mo

Well, at about 30% I‘m giving up. I am not finding this particularly funny, and I don‘t really like the main character. I know he‘s supposed to learn about who he is and grow as a person, but I‘m over it.

Aims42 🌜✨🚀 Onto better reads! 2mo
rwmg My problem with it was that it's a very localised humour. If you're not part of a particular milieu most of the jokes are going to land flat, though they are probably screamingly funny if you are. 2mo
Crazeedi How are you my friend 2mo
Soubhiville @Crazeedi I‘m well! Life is a bit hectic at the moment with a move happening in July, but I‘m looking forward to settling into my home I‘ve been watching be built and been planning for through the last year and a half. How are you? 2mo
Crazeedi @Soubhiville I guess I'll need your new address? Send me a note with it!! Hugs 2mo

I personally really enjoyed this read. It was also quite funny at times.

Mehso-so

TV-writer Elliott's 6-year relationship with Gus implodes after he books a session with a sex worker but he learns to be more comfortable with himself and starts to overcome his addictions.

A book that is probably funnier if you are part of the milieu depicted but there were too many refs to TV shows I don't watch or singers I'm only marginally aware of, if that, not to mention places & brands I don't recognise for me to really enjoy it
