Thick as Thieves | Megan Whalen Turner
Pickpick

I have once again found myself not wanting to stop listening to a book in this series. Each book is from a different character's point of view and it's a credit to Megan Whalen Turner's writing that I've enjoyed each one so very much when Eugenides isn't the main character of each book, though he's the main character of the series as a whole. This one was like a fantasy buddy movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Started this audiobook this morning. Happy to be back in the world of the Queen's Thief.

When I got home from work, I meant to listen just until I finished the chapter I was on. A few hours later, I finished the book. This was Sophos' story and I was so happy to hear him become a stronger, more confident character and start to really come into his own. I'm looking forward to the next book so I can find out what happens next. I have to wait for it to be available through Libby though.

Started listening to the fourth book in the Queen's Thief series this morning. I'm hoping to finish this series before the end of the year.

Reading this felt very much like a buddy cop movie only it's a soldier and a runaway slave on the run. Readers get to see more of Costis from book three and some of the culture of the Mede empire that's threatening the Penninsula.

Apparently I am living that terrible insomnia life right now so I'm just pushing through this entire series instead of sleeping. This was good but didn't eclipse the last one. Readers are reunited with Sophos from the first book and it's nice to see him come into his own. Could have used more insane Eugenides plotting though.

I enjoyed this as much as the first because it has a slow character driven build up to the explosion of an ending where are the subtle maneuvering has lead to. I liked that we see more of Eugenides and his character growth. My only main criticism is that the 'romantic' bits felt underdeveloped and a little tacked on.

#ThingsInCommon I like how these fantasy covers sort of mirror each other, in different time periods.

This is a slight collection of ephemera that only big fans of “The Queens Thief“ series can enjoy. I've read the series three times, and I still had to look characters up and didn't always grasp the significance of the vignettes. I was about equal parts happy, sad, and confused.

I enjoyed this book even more than the first book. In fact, I absolutely loved it. Megan Whalen Turner is so good at surprises. I don't usually like political fantasy but I'm so glad I decided to give this series a chance and will definitely continue with it. The audiobook narration is also fantastic.

The other signed book I treated myself to. I love this series, and this book is my favorite.
