Next up. My husband got me the Neapolitan novels for my birthday cos we're hoping to go to Naples this year.

I finally read this and of course I loved it, just like I have loved all the Elena Ferrante books I've read.

Joanna was an amazing woman and was one of the only women to inherit her kingdom in her own right. She brought as much peace and prosperity as her horrible husbands would allow and her kingdom flourished into a power under her strong rule after her horrible husbands died.
The book gets deep into papel politics as Joanna played a surprisingly big role in the history of the Catholic Church.
3.5/5 fascinating but bogged in church politics

Aw. Andy got me the Neapolitan novels as pre holiday reading for my birthday.

#ItTakesAllKinds Day 21: These Elena Ferrante novels are #WithEyes. Found in a bookstore in Bologna.

I enjoyed this first book in an Italian series about friendship.

1. The hubs and I don't participate in Valentine's Day, but I *do* love Galentine's Day! And I would love to get a book or bookish accessory for Galentine's Day. (I'm giving bookmarks with my little bundles!) 😍
2. My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante is an excellent example of platonic love between 2 friends. The book is just a great read, as well.

A layered, beautiful story of a lifelong friendship. An appropriate conclusion to a lifelong friendship that we follow through 4 books. In this we follow them into old age, between 1970s to the early 2000s. Filled with love, loss and strife. Ferrante has a compelling ability to infuse innumerable emotions into her writing, to bring out the beautiful but more importantly, the devastating and ugly parts of being alive. A brilliant series.
