A beautifully written, short novel; one of the best I‘ve read in the past few months. As the evils of Highland Clearances draw to a close, and set on a remote island, the lives of Reverend John Ferguson and islander Ivar intertwine. Attempting to raise money for his yet unfounded church, John accepts a commission from a wealthy landowner to remove Ivan from the only home he‘s known. Davies gives us love and hope in equal measure. It will heal you

I‘ve been on an audiobook kick lately. I‘ve had this book sitting in my library for a while now and needed something to listen to while I sanded and painted cosplays. The writing style is a tad repetitive—and a little cliched—but overall it was a fun listen with multiple narrators, all good performers. The setting was intriguing (a small Alaskan village housed entirely in one building) and the characters are quirky and engaging.

#12Booksof2024 JULY A beautiful rugged book, set on an Island off of Scotland. I loved everything about this book.

My June #12Booksof2024 pick was our first book for #CampLitsy24 & a clear (pun intended) favorite. Very atmospheric & absorbing.
Honorable Mentions include: Run Towards the Danger, Doppelgänger & A Scatter of Light.

My choice for June is Clear. Beautiful writing, in depth characterization, imaginative, at its root a historical fact. 💛#12booksof2024
