This book is a mixture of history and fiction. It's about Isaac Newton's suspicious circumstances surrounding his appointment as a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1667. I learned about Newton's involvement with glassmaking and alchemy. The book switches back and forth between the present and the 17th century.

EadieB Elizabeth Vogelsang, a Cambridge historian, is writing a book about Newton but she has been found drowned in the Cam River. Her son, Cameron, asks Lydia Brooke to finish his mother's novel. There are some present day murders which may link to happenings from the 17th century. Elizabeth's friend, Dilys Kite, reawakens ghosts from the past in order to solve the mysterious deaths. 2y
EadieB I found this book to be clever and intriguing. The supernatural occult mixed with scientific knowledge was entertaining. The twist at the end was surprising. I enjoyed the author's writing and need to read The Coral Thief, her book about Napoleon. If you like history and the supernatural then you may enjoy Ghostwalk. 2y
LindaLappin had not heard of this, but will look it up, thank you for posting 2y

Isaac Newton | Peter Ackroyd
Pickpick

Brief life of Sir Isaac. Sympathetic to him, though if one reads between the lines, he could obviously be very difficult to deal with. I realise it's not meant to be a scholarly work, but there were some quotations which were unattributed and it would have been nice to know who said it, even if it was a name I didn't recognise.

Love this. I draw a lot of portraits of people and animals. This quote made me think of the style I strive for while I work on each art piece. I guess I try to draw the same way Isaac Newton did according to this book. 🤔#art #drawing #idealism #alchemy #isaacnewton

Who Was Isaac Newton? | Janet B. Pascal

The Who is/ Who was series of B books are a New York Times Best Seller and a great addition to any classroom! Each book talks about someone of importance in our worlds history, in particular I read about Isaac Newton and learned information about his early life along with his amazing discoveries! This book would be a good IR opportunity for students. #ucflae3414f19

KristenScala I would choose UDL principle 3.1 for students to use background knowledge on who they are reading about and ESOL strategy 50 so that students can create a KWL chart on the person. 5y
