One of my #tbrpile books from the library. It's also a book for the #WinterGames but not the only one 😉

Mehso-so

This is really close between pick and so-so for me. It was a little slow going because I had a hard time forming a connection with the characters. I‘m not sure if it was them in particular or the writer‘s tone. But I did find the premise intriguing and it made me think about habits, choices and my own outlook on life. Especially now. So maybe a so-so plus? #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #ReadingEurope2020 #Germany @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

Librarybelle I like that idea, a so-so plus. It‘s not quite a pick, but yet not really a so-so read. 14mo
TheAromaofBooks I didn't like this one a lot, but I think part of it was the cover & synopsis made it sound like the story was going to be much more lighthearted than it actually was. It wasn't a bad story, but it wasn't what I was expecting at the time. 14mo
Julsmarshall I agree, @TheAromaofBooks . Definitely not lighthearted and with subject matter related to cancer and suicide, it was tough to get through it in places. 14mo
TheAromaofBooks Exactly. And all the serious themes made the romance feel a little forced to me. 14mo

What happens, if the world is down? Such an unbelievable book, what happens if a pandemic takes place... What happens, if there is no electricity, no water, no hope...
If you don't know, if you survive the next hour or if you survive at least.
Of course, there are too many bad things happening at quite the same time, but several things could happen and is depressing. #germanauthor

Aimeesue I do love me a good apocalypse tale. Character is revealed in extremis. 2y

Next one. I'm curious because first I thougt it's a novel about depression, but ist really about deamons and magic.

I love the cover!

Buechersuechtling Sounds interesting. Even if it reminds me a huge lot of Peter V. Brett‘s “Daemon”-series. 3y
Moony @Buechersuechtling No, Peter V. Brett's series I don't know. Do you know the movie "The purge"? It another topic, but the beginning is similar. 3y
Moony @Buechersuechtling oh I read an abstract about Brett's books and yes it seems a cross between his books and "the purge" Very strange ? I don't know if I'll finish or bail it. 3y

“Maybe” I am a bit biased in reviewing this book because last year I made a birthday present for a dear friend which is quite similar to the Filofax entries in this book – but, and this is the important point, I did so _without_ knowing that I would encounter the idea in a book in general, or especially in this book.

I loved it. It‘s not always light, cosy entertainment. Yes, towards the end some “plot twists” are expectable, and yes, some events are simply unrealistic. (How long can one skip working in one‘s own business/start-up??)

But I liked the whole idea and how it was presented. Sometimes it‘s s bit cliché but it‘s also heartwarming and true.

Issues like death and age are dealt with authenticity and an eye for details.

I really like the wintertime sky outside my window. It‘s a nice grey.
And I make the best out of the day that I gave to myself as a present because I couldn‘t go to work today due to snow. I spend my hours reading. But nevertheless, I am really prepared for some summer. I am fed up with low temperatures and early darkness.

When literature meets literary man. 😍
Sebastian Fitzek is well-known in Germany. He is author of many suspenseful books. Mostly thrillers and psychological thrillers.

I can‘t put down his books either. I‘m quite a fan and have seen him live during his readings. (Entertaining‼️)

So I was kind of happy when I read that in this book one of the characters will go to one of his readings. 😍
