A Summer Affair: A Novel | Elin Hilderbrand

Mehso-so

Another compelling listen by EH but I pretty much hated all of the main characters, especially the hypocritical mean af best friend of the main character, Claire. Wasn‘t too happy with the ending either. But I still sped through it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3⭐️

Beautiful Day: A Novel | Elin Hilderbrand

If you‘re up for lots of wedding drama amidst the rich people of Nantucket, then look no further! I wasn‘t in love with these characters but the drama was compelling as always. EH has surely mastered the art of writing about dysfunctional families! 4⭐️

This is EH‘s first book, and while I enjoyed it okay, you can tell her writing has come a long way. It feels a little clunky and I wasn‘t really a fan of any of the main characters, but if you like EH I‘d still recommend grabbing it from the library. 3.5⭐️

The Island: A Novel | Elin Hilderbrand

The Island takes us on a summer vacation in secluded Tuckernuck Island off the coast of Nantucket with newly divorced Birdie Cousins, her two daughters and her sister, and their various romantic entanglements. It‘s another one I got sucked into and had a hard time putting it down. 4⭐️

Another tearjerker from EH! This one deals with the aftermath of a car crash on grad night in Nantucket, where promising student Penny gets killed and her twin brother is in critical condition. It was sad but compelling and I couldn‘t put it down. 4⭐️

Summer of '69 | Elin Hilderbrand

This is one of my #BOTM books but I think EH‘s books are better on audio so that‘s the direction I took. I loved this one! This is one of her forays into historical fiction and I loved reading about the characters in Nantucket in the summer of ‘69. So much interesting stuff happening that year. 5⭐️

RenePenn I enjoyed this one too! 2y
RenePenn Have you read 28 summers? That was a good one too. 2y
JenlovesJT47 @RenePenn yes! I sped through that whole thing in a day and thought it was a good story, although I did get really frustrated with the main characters. The follow-up novella was nice too. 2y
Megabooks I like her books better on audio too! 2y

I‘ve been on a huge Elin Hilderbrand kick lately and I really think her books are best consumed via #audiobook — they are more character driven and it‘s easier to pay attention, since sometimes it‘s hard not to let your mind wander while listening and multitasking. I loved this one because we got behind the scenes experience of working in a super fancy restaurant in Nantucket. It‘s nice seeing how the other half lives and the food descriptions ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Had me drooling 🤤. 5⭐️ #ElinHilderbrand #Nantucket (edited) 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I loved this one!! 💙 2y
marleed I spent last summer working down my Elin collection. I have one of her books left unread - just for kicks. And if I ever did make it to Nantucket I think I might be disappointed to find the community of people I‘ve grown to love - and I‘m sure would offer me a guest room - are fictional! 2y

Nantucket Nights: A Novel | Elin Hilderbrand

Now on the one hand, this book was so hard to put down & I listened to the 11-hour audiobook in one day. On the other hand, what a huge bunch of despicable awful people! Except for Kayla, who was a pushover also, there is not one single character in here who is likable. They are all awful. Also leaves you with a grubby feeling when a 40-something woman has an affair with her best friend‘s 18-year-old son. So gross, yet nonetheless compelling. 3⭐️

Book 1 in another drama-filled EH series! Irene‘s life is turned upside down when her husband dies suddenly in a plane crash and secrets start coming out of the woodwork. Turns out her hubby had a multimillion dollar mansion in an exotic country, not to mention a mistress and another child. I‘m taking a break from EH for now but I look forward to reading the rest of this series. 4⭐️

This #novella picks up about 2 years after 28 Summers. It was good seeing the characters again on Nantucket, although I was still frustrated with the last book. 😤 But if you enjoyed 28 Summers then definitely read this. I enjoyed it. 4⭐️
