Read this today for my #booked2020 book about genocide. With this, an hour with my second #chunkster2020 book and an hour reading a yoga book, I‘m at almost 15 hours for the #booklyreadathon #stayathomereadathon

BarbaraTheBibliophage Good pick for that prompt! Tagging my cohosts @Cinfhen and @4thhouseontheleft 4y

Pickpick

A beautifully written ugly story. I found it hard to be sympathetic to the narrator, but I was conscious that I have never had to negotiate such challenging issues of identity or social position (for which I am very grateful). Does this qualify as a banned book #booked2020?
#BookReport finished Sofia Khan is not Ok, Case Histories & this
#WeeklyForecast start The Professor's House for #CatherBuddyRead continue The Thirties for #chunkster2020 then?

Cinfhen Yup, it has been banned and qualifies!! I‘m thinking of reading this one 👉🏾 4y

CarolynM @Cinfhen Excellent! Thank you. That means I've crossed off 3 of the summer prompts. I'll do a post about it this week🙂 I read The Grapes of Wrath in high school - ugh! Good luck. 4y
CarolynM @Crazeedi @batsy Thank you. Love a bit of William Morris🙂 4y
Cinfhen Ohhhh, that‘s not a good endorsement. I might have to rethink that choice 🙄 (edited) 4y
CarolynM @Cinfhen Don't let me influence you. After all you liked East of Eden a lot more than I did. 4y
erzascarletbookgasm @Cinfhen I‘ve been wanting to read Grapes ever since we did the East of Eden buddy read. Let me know IF you decide on Grapes, we can buddy read! 4y
Cinfhen That‘s true @CarolynM 😂😂I forgot you disliked it!!! I WILL definitely let you know @erzascarletbookgasm having a friend to read along with really helps ☺️ 4y
Graywacke This was one of my favorite books from last year. I was maybe more sympathetic with the terrible empty American, but yes the writing was really beautiful and what I remember most. 4y
CarolynM @Graywacke I'm not sure being American had much to do with it. I couldn't excuse the way he used both Giovanni and Hella even though I understood how much he was struggling with his sexuality, his concept of masculinity and how he fitted in the world (in the US maybe even more than in Paris given the differences in the law). 4y
Graywacke @CarolynM oh, he was awful. But he obviously came from a place that seriously repressed his sexuality to the point he couldn‘t handle a good when he had it. 4y
