W/ the entire family on vacation in Scotland, Peter was just hoping for some relaxing time on the beach. Then a maybe selkie is found dead, a mysterious panther is stalking sheep, & Abigail gets a crush. So business as usual.

Lots of fun, great humor, & fascinating world building, it feel like we skipped a book w/ the time jump. & there were just too many characters that felt incidental. & I did not get invested in Abigail‘s romance. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Rivers of London books read so fast, which is a nice change before diving back into medieval gender.
I enjoyed this one despite the comparative dearth of local history (there was still some), I had missed Peter's sense of humor. Still a little formulaic, and I feel like too little work was put into the twins.

annamatopoetry Also, I get the vibe that Aaronovitch chose to make Abigail queer because he doesn't know how to write characters who aren't into women (or who are into men? See the kim book, which had no chemistry), and she feels very Peter 2.0 2w

This happened: walked past bookstore. Saw new rivers of london in window. Couldn't find it in store. Asked. The window copy was the last one, but I got to buy it. My stamp card gave me $20 off? Walked out with a book I didn't know existed 5 minutes ago, as I put my faith in getting the aaronovitch news email, apparently erroneously.

There is a large black cat in this book so my large black cat thought he should feature. Jasper will be unimpressed that this isn‘t a glamour shot though 😂😂

I love this series, I think this is about Book 10. There‘s a little less of Peter here and a lot more of Abigail (his neice) so that was fun. Plenty of fantastical hi-jinks. Nothing ground breaking for this world and these characters just good solid fun.

Eggbeater Great photo! 3w
GingerAntics We‘ll just tell Jasper it was a glamour shot and that he‘s looking good! 3w

Reggie My friend back in the day had a black cat named Salem. One day he said-Reg I have some surprising news. Salem has his own Facebook page!!! I looked it up and Salem‘s first post was a pic of himself and all he said was “Meeeeeeooooow” I laughed for like 5 minutes. Jasper is beautiful. 3w
Centique @Reggie brilliant! Salem is such a good name too 😻 3w

Treat yo self!
I‘m about three behind in the main series but why not. It‘s too hot to logic.

BookmarkTavern I‘m so excited for this one! 1mo

I'm about to try Lydia Sherrer's new tea, Fae Fox Tea, inspired by the character Yuki in the LLHP series. It smells amazing! The back of the package says it's a blend of chamomile, rooibos, peppermint, and vanilla ❤️ That sounds like the perfect early evening tea for sipping while curled up with a good book.

The boyfriend & I went to Pop Cats convention today & I got to meet Lydia Sherrer! I bought the tagged book & a bag of her new tea & I also got a pic with her! Later the boyfriend said he was on a mission from our cats & would meet back with me in 15 minutes. He went back & got me LLHP: Odyssey! ❤️ Both are signed😁 On top of that, it was the first time in a week that I wasn't in pain! I'm glad I decided to go in spite of the pain I've been in.

Reminiscences of A Swiftly Tilting Planet combine with some foreshadowing of Jemison‘s City and a wee bit of Dream.
