I just returned from the theater where I watched Brett Morgen's experimental, impressionistic documentary about Bowie that could accurately be subtitled the philosophy of Bowie. As reviews have stated this disregards a strictly chronological narrative, however I do feel like it still maintains it to a degree as it literally is bookended with images & songs from the beginning & end of his career. I thought it was phenomenal. Easily one of 👇

vivastory the best movies I've seen in theaters released this year. I normally don't watch movies in IMAX but if you are going to watch this in the theater & are able to, definitely recommend. 👨‍🎤 2y
Suet624 Hmmm… I hope it comes to my little town but I‘m not holding my breath. So glad you got to see it. 2y
vivastory @Suet624 I saw in the opening credits something about HBO Max, so it might be on there soon. I plan on watching it again. 2y

vivastory @Suet624 Also, speaking of music... I know you love Foo Fighters. Did you know they were in a movie that came out last year? I forget the name, but I think it's a horror comedy 2y
Suet624 Ooh, good to know. Now I just need to find a friend who has HBO Max. 😀😀 2y
Suet624 @vivastory I did know about the Foo Fighter movie but in my mind it all got wrapped up with Taylor Hawkins death. So I couldn‘t watch it. Watching them be goofy and not knowing they‘d lose their friend just got to me. 2y
vivastory @Suet624 I could def. see that. about the movie. Have they announced future plans? 2y
Suet624 No. They have one more tribute concert for Taylor coming up. Not sure what happens after that. Have you seen Taylor‘s son playing the drums at the first tribute concert? Made me pretty teary. 2y
vivastory @Suet624 I didn't watch it. I heard it was a great tribute concert though. 2y
Dragon Just heard Brett Morgan talking about how hard it was to make the Bowie documentary. He had a heart attack and the pandemic made it very difficult but he said in the end he made the movie he wanted to. Glad to hear it may be on HBO eventually as your review has peaked my interest. 💚🐉 2y
vivastory @Dragon I had no idea about his heart attack but in retrospect it makes sense bc several parts of the movie was Bowie talking about not wasting his life & treating each day as important. I can definitely see how difficult it would have been bc of the pandemic & I really appreciate that he didn't compromise his vision 2y
Bookwomble Great review, Scott. I'm excited to see it now 😄 Tagged is one of my favourite Bowie books. Photos by Mick Rock, text by David himself 🧡 2y
vivastory @Bookwomble Thanks 🙏 I hope you get to experience it soon! That book sounds incredible. Definitely adding to my TBR 2y
Dragon He mentioned that a couple times during the radio interview- it definitely has caught my interest 2y
Meshell1313 Great review! Can‘t wait to see this! Sounds moving and powerful. #bowieforever! 👨‍🎤 2y

Pickpick

One of the better books on Bowie focusing on his impact and the lasting effect he had on his fans. Happy Birthday! Today would have been #71 on Planet Earth. #BowieForever

vivastory I'm hoping to go to NYC in April. The Brooklyn museum will be featuring a massive Bowie exhibit. 6y
LittleWonder @vivastory I have my heart set on it! ⚡️ 6y

Hawksmoor | Peter Ackroyd

Duncan Jones, David Bowie's son, is starting a read along book club/group of his father's favorite books.

This is massive news for me being a lifelong fan and avid reader.

The first pick is Hawksmoor by Peter Ackroyd to be read by February 1st.

About 4 years ago, I bought "Killing Bono" because I like Neil McCormick. But I had never opened the book til today. I thought: "Should I give it a try?". So, I decided to open on a random page. This was exactly where I opened! Any doubts I will be reading it right away?! #Bowieforever
