A long time ago I managed charitable sponsorships for the company where I worked. One of them was a rescue fund for a highly endangered native bird - the flightless Takahe. We ran a short story competition which resulted in this book - and I did a book launch event. We also paid for a Braille version to be made as the author worked with a sight compromised child. Giving him the book is such a special memory 💕

Chrissyreadit @Cinfhen @TrishB I think death was romanticized in that time? I guess even for children- but today I would only recommend it for a college class on death and dying. Im sure I ordered it from scholastic- and probably it was the cheapest book so I was allowed to 🤣 5y
