Penny‘s book is a reference to the famous quote from William Shakespeare‘s The Tempest, “Hell is empty and all the devils are here,”
While the city of light may be dim with the devils, Armand Gamache provides a beacon of hope and light to this sophisticated, beloved imperial city.
I received an advance copy of this audiobook from NetGalley. #NetGalley #AlltheDevilsareHere

Penny_LiteraryHoarders I'm saving this for when it's time to light the fire in the fireplace and snuggle under blankets in front of the fire. 😊 4y

{Audiobook}

I haven‘t finished my review yet but wow! I wasn‘t even a murder mystery fan before this but she‘s got me hooked! I need to read all of her books! She‘s a try master of her trade. I‘m generally pretty good at predicting the few mysteries I do read but there was no guessing for me with this one (besides maybe the relationship development). This is a fantastic story and audiobook!

katy4peas Do you need to read them in order or can they be read as stand-alones? I couldn‘t get into the first book and tried several times... is he more likeable later in the series? Is there a title I should start with? Are they super gory? Thanks! 4y
TheShaggyShepherd @katy4peas This is actually only the second book I read in this series! I liked the first one (Still Life) alright. Enough to try another but wasn‘t a favorite. This one though I really do like a lot. There‘s enough explanations about his family and relationships in the first few chapters that you‘re fine reading them out of order. It‘s not really gory at all. I love how it focuses on his relationships and how much they change in this book. 4y
TheShaggyShepherd @katy4peas I struggled with some of the female voices of the male narrator but eventually it wasn‘t too bad. He does a really great job of narrating the story overall. 4y
katy4peas Oh thanks. I might have to give it a try. 4y

Day 3 - #Top20Series
Location: Paris France Daughter Annie & Jean-Guy's 2nd baby is coming. 3 Pines missed. Love backstory information from this book. Learned more about Daniel & his father's strained relationship. Main story centers around Gamache's godfather, Stephen Horowitz. Family affair as we find answers to why Stephen was a victim of a hit and run. I loved that Reine-Marie, Gamache's wife, had a hand in helping to solve the mystery.

EadieB As always I enjoyed Penny's writing. I received a free audio from MacMillian Publishers and NetGalley for an honest review. I also enjoyed the narrator, Robert Bathurst, very much. He had a soothing voice and did an excellent job narrating the female characters too. In the end, the whole family returns to Three Pines and I now await the next book in order to see how their story continues. 4y
EadieB In order to get the best enjoyment from this series, it's best to start with book 1, Still Life, but book can be read as a standalone too. Highly recommended. #20Series20Days #GIGamacheSeries #AllTheDevilsAreHere #LouisePenny (edited) 4y
