I recently finished AGE OF INNOCENCE by Edith Wharton for the #ageofinnocence2018 readalong and all I can say, is why haven‘t I picked up Wharton before!? The writing is so rich and decadent; with cleverly constructed criticism of New York‘s upper class society, marriage and scandal. I found myself entirely engrossed in the story of love, obsession, and loyalty that plays out in this novel.

raeintheworld Ellen Olenska is my spirit animal. 6y
catebutler @raeintheworld I love it! It really is surprising what a modern woman she was, especially having been written as an 1800‘s character. I always love reading about independent, passionate women. She definitely was a memorable character. 6y
