It‘s Friday, but here‘s a #TakeThreeThursday from me!
We didn‘t have the “trendy” foods in my house growing up—my mom wouldn‘t buy us that stuff! She was all about homemade stuff…mostly. Lots of dinners that had cream of mushroom soup as an ingredient. 😆

My three are: Nerds, Cap‘n Crunch, and Kudos bars. My mom DID buy Kudos bars, and we got Cap‘n Crunch (the peanut butter one!) at my grandma‘s house. And I was obsessed with Nerds in jr. high! ⬇

After the success of StarWars and the associated toys and a Marvel licensed comic, Editor Jim Shooter was looking for the next big toy/comic tie-in. A deal was struck with Parker Brothers and this Omnibus collects the result. It starts off childish, as you might expect, but as the toy was flopping, the comic had its own life & actually gets interesting. Nothing new to see here, but we get an entertaining, paranoid, “Body Snatchers” type thriller.

X-men Epic collection Wounded Wolf is a pretty solid Claremont collection of the x-men and New Mutants doing what they do. Loki has a crush on storm. Wolverine is rescued by another little superpowered girl. TW for some pretty glaring fat-phobia though. Between the mojoverse, murder world, and Asgard the X-men don‘t do tons of defending a world that hates and fears them, but they do try on lots of outfits.

Sending Jean/Phoenix to space is a concept so good it's crazy it hasn't been done. Putting her on a collision course with Thanos also makes sense. Unfortunately, much of the execution in terms of plot mechanics isn't very strong. Perrikus is not only a silly character but isn't even developed as a villain. The stuff with Corsair was good.

I am a fan of the X-MEN comics from the ‘70s and ‘80s. So I missed the whole Krakoa saga when it happened. This book is about the downfall of the Mutant homeland. If you‘re up on all the lore and politics of the rise and fall of Krakoa, then you might enjoy this. I, on the other hand, can‘t get past the ‘bring dead characters back to life‘ pods. Comics are notorious for people coming back from the dead, but this is a bit much.

After the loss of Krakoa, KITTY PRIDE works as a bartender, trying to leave the superhero life behind. But when EMMA FROST collects a group of young mutants still coping with their new powers, she must decide whether to keep hiding or to help lead a new group into the wider X-MEN fold. I‘m usually tired of the ‘magical/mutant school‘ trope, but this narrative focuses more on the kids dealing with the prejudices of society. Recommended!

A new group of teens with powers similar to the original X-Men emerges. They are not mutants, but humans wielding alien technology. Can they work as a team against real threats? Can they gain the acceptance of their heroes? A fun addition to the X books, and a new wrinkle in the always simmering conflict between human and mutantkind.

The Scarlet Witch is dead. Murdered. In Krakoa, the mutant homeland.
Her father, Magneto, is the prime suspect. Did he kill his own daughter? Will she stay dead? This is a comic book… so…
This story is akin to a courtroom drama set in the sphere of superhero opinion. As such, there is a lot of recrimination and blame laying. Not much action.

In this mini-series, comics veteran Louise Simonson takes us on a whirlwind tour of Jean Grey's most pivotal decisions. What if Jean had acted differently? This was really fun and you can read it even if you aren't caught up on X-Men.

I love almost everything by Kieron Gillen, but this volume of Immortal X-Men is badly hampered by the need for lots of exposition explaining stuff from Sins of Sinister. Also, Mother Righteous is a terrible charactet. I did like the scenes between Sinister and Xavier.
