Mystique, former terrorist and espionage agent supreme, is loyal to Professor X's Quiet Council for one reason only: the promise that someday he will resurrect her beloved Destiny. But when Moira MacTaggert helped Professor X and Magneto realize their lifelong dreams for mutantkind, it came with one condition: Do not allow any precognitive mutants on the island of Krakoa. What will Mystique do when she realizes she's being strung along? Vengeance burns hot, and Mystique is about to ignite an Inferno! And where has the elusive Moira been all this time, anyway?

Mehso-so

I am a fan of the X-MEN comics from the ‘70s and ‘80s. So I missed the whole Krakoa saga when it happened. This book is about the downfall of the Mutant homeland. If you‘re up on all the lore and politics of the rise and fall of Krakoa, then you might enjoy this. I, on the other hand, can‘t get past the ‘bring dead characters back to life‘ pods. Comics are notorious for people coming back from the dead, but this is a bit much.

Pickpick

In Inferno, Hickman ties up the threads from House of X / Powers of X and sets the stage for the next phase of Krakoa's history. The central conflict is twofold: between mutants and the seemingly Invincible threat of the AI Nimrod, as well as a split among mutants themselves, pitting Xavier and Magneto against Mystique and Destiny. Caselli's art on this book is phenomenal.

I love that the opening of Inferno mirrors the opening of House of X.
