For #witchyhistory I thought of two books. The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane was fantastic and a book I want to re-read. The Witches is sitting on my tbr shelf in the living room. I told my husband I'd read through that shelf this year and I keep getting distracted by other books and adding to it. Oops. #witchyreads

Linsy Been there! I‘m switched though. Deliverance Dane is still on my digital shelf, but I hope to get to it soon! 🤞 6y

#witchyHistory but I can't take credit for having this book- came out of the ancient witchcraft/ magic course I had to miss out on in my undergrad 😢
Luckily, I married a guy who took the course 😉 @RyanWalsh

A historical saga that spans five generations of powerful mothers and daughters.

Linsy I liked this one! Have you read it? (edited) 6y
MirrorMask @Linsy Not yet! It's on my list 6y
Linsy @MirrorMask I really enjoyed it — the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted. It was hard to decide whether the switching of generations was my favorite or least favorite part though; I have a hard time switching perspectives! 6y
Crazeedi Looks very interesting! Stacking! Thanks! 6y

Pickpick

#WitchyReads Day 5: This plaque commemorating the first witch burnt to death in Bratislava definitely counts as part of #WitchyHistory. I found this in Oldtown, Bratislava, around 5 yrs ago. Apparently, the woman was accused of having sex with the devil, accdg to our tour guide. Tagged book was one of the titles that made me fall in love with middle grade/ YA lit around 10 years ago. Love historical fiction.

Crazeedi I read the tagged book when I was young, never forgot it 6y
Linsy That‘s so cool! The plaque is beautiful!! But poor lady... 6y
jillrhudy How was the sex, though? 👹 6y
GatheringBooks @jillrhudy that is indeed the million dollar question. 6y

I don‘t own a lot of nonfiction, and don‘t choose to read it all that often, so #WitchyHistory is going to be historical fiction for me. 😃

I really liked this book, which weaves between a modern mystery and the Salem witch trials with solid writing, feminist undertones, and intrigue. Good stuff!

Lcsmcat @Linsy It‘s a big book. It‘ll stand up to multiple postings. 😀 6y
KarmonR Historical fiction or a history? 6y
Lcsmcat @KarmonR Well researched, readable history. 6y
KarmonR Nice. I was thinking about a visit to Salem this autumn and this book might be a good precursor. 6y
