pickMy first complete surprise of the #InternationalBookerPrize2021 longlist. I don‘t usually do at all well with gritty, trippy or stream-of-consciousness, but I loved this one. And the soundtrack would be AMAZING!
A cellist waits for colleagues on a canal footpath. He‘s asked for some change, triggering thoughts of where he‘s come from, the life he (was) expected to lead. It‘s incredibly disorientating, beautifully written- and Yes to that ending!
