Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: the Last Ronin | Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Peter Laird

In the near future, New York is run by Shredder‘s grandson and the Foot Clan. A lone hero must end a generations-long war between families, bring honor to his lost father and siblings, and reconnect with old allies. This is the epilogue to all TNMT fiction, and it is an action-packed, heartbreaking close. Fantastic art (that changes during flashbacks to the style of that iteration), great characterization, and a perfect last panel. Essential!

TieDyeDude I've heard so much about this comic, but I haven't read it yet. I'll have to check it out this year. I've never read any TMNT comics, actually. That'll have to change 😜 6d
WeAreLegion It‘s a great book, and I‘m not a big fan of TMNT. All series should hope to have as good an ending. 6d

Phenomenal artwork. Classic ronin style plot, loss and survivor‘s guilt. The war between the Foot Clan and the Hamato Clan—the grandson of the Shredder and Michelangelo—comes down to a climatic battle; a summation of the brutality of war, where there is no winner, and everyone loses something. Eastman & Laird outdid themselves with this epic run.

The trick with making TMNT compelling is writing each turtle as a distinct character. Aaron not only does this well but also starts his new run with the four brothers at odds. Rebuilding their bond will be tough with a corrupt mayor out to get them.

Lately my primary hobby has been video games which means that my reading has taken a huge hit. A year ago, I saw a trailer for The Last Ronin. I remember sitting in front of the television watching the TMNT cartoons. So, The Last Ronin video game caught my interest and I put it on my wish list. I was surprised to learn a bit later that the video game is going to be based on a comic by the same name. I had to read it, I checked it from the library

Came into the story with only the basics: 4 turtles raised by a wise rat ninja. They live in the sewers and LOVE pizza. 2 of the 4 brothers are named, Michael Angelo and Leonardo.

This held its own. Easily a standalone. Actually, was glad that I hadn't came with emotional attachment to any of the characters...otherwise might have thrown the book a few times.

Either way, still managed to make me cry...can't believe that the TMNT made me cry LOL.

AnnCrystal warning 📚⚠️👍. War and battles. 2y

Seeing them be accepted at the end into public school was such an emotional piece to me. The way the movie built it up to get to this? 👌🏾 Also just so much fun looking at how they‘d dress for school. Love these nerds. 🐢

Not quite typical “art of” book. Has concept art for characters & scenery. As well as vehicles & interviews. I love hearing these commentary from the artists about the character designs. How they got to where they were. Don‘t usually get these, and I just loved this movie so much I had to nab it. This iteration was just so unique; with everything. Took a chance and it payed off I believe. Also; Didn‘t realize Don is the youngest here. #tmnt
