The Woman in Me | Britney Spears

Very good. Heartbreaking and so passionate in wanting to tell her real story not just the story we hear in the press. Full of raw feelings and stories that will make you mad on her behalf. A must read for true Britney Spears fans.

I thought this was fantastic! Didn‘t know much about it when requesting the ARC, other than that she cowrote The Sun Does Shine, which I loved. Ended up feeling really connected to her story, esp. bc it took place in Santa Cruz during a time period when I was living there too as a young mom with two little boys around her youngest son‘s age. (I wonder if our paths ever crossed?) She‘s an incredible writer, and this book has so much to say about ⬇️

Christine self-awareness, motherhood, addiction, and lots more. Plus it‘s a harrowing glimpse of what women experience in local jails/justice systems. Highly recommend, out in August! Thanks much to #SimonAndSchuster for early access. (edited) 5mo

I‘m very glad to have had the chance to read this book from #SimonandSchuster. I received an #ARC from #NetGalley. I don‘t think I went looking for it, but I‘m very glad I found it!

Path Lit by Lightning is the story of Jim Thorpe written by renowned historian and biographer David Maraniss. This is a very thoroughly researched and detailed biography.

This is a VERY STRONG PICK for me. 5 🌟

DrexEdit Jim Thorpe has achieved an almost mythical status in American sports history. Even if you think you know Jim Thorpe and early American sports and Indian history, you will learn something new from this book. 1y
DrexEdit Although they had earlier restored Thorpe's gold medals, today the International Olympic Committee, on the 110th anniversary of Jim Thorpe winning gold in the decathlon, reinstated him as the sole winner of the pentathlon and decathlon in 1912. 1y
BarbaraBB That‘s quite the recommendation! I hope you are well, you have been quiet lately 🤍 1y

Very good. A powerful story based on the life of Lucy Stone a campaigner for Suffrage and the abolition of slavery in America in the late 1800's. It makes you see how far we have come but it also makes you see that even though progress has been made in what they were campaigning for actually hasn't been fully achieved in the sense of equality between the sexes and races.

Very good. Even though I am not a fan of Stephen King I absolutely love the film of this and so I thought I would read the book it was based on. This book is only 111 pages long but every page is full of rich detail and drama that you just want keep reading. A must read for everyone who loves the film.

ravenlee I just recently read this (hubby kept saying how weird it was to see me reading Stephen King) and really liked it. I only sort of know the movie, but was impressed how they followed and where/why they diverged. Both well done. 2y

For 80-90% of this book I was hooked, the MC was fairly easy to like & the pace was blistering with some excellent twists. I literally couldn't put it down! I think the ending felt rather rushed though & it didn't quite do justice to the rest of the book in my opinion, but I enjoyed the rest of it so much that it deserves 4.5🌟

Thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Simon & Schuster, for the opportunity to read an ARC. #NetGalley #SimonandSchuster

Very good. Start of a wonderful new series, it draws you in and stays with you long after you have finished it and I can't wait to see how the series progresses. Shows how a young woman navigates a treacherous time in history to be a woman. Also how she will do anything to protect her family.

The Last Tudor | Philippa Gregory

Very good. This is proof of how Philippa Gregory evolves with every novel, it just flows as her love for the Tudor period just shines through. Also you can see how much research has gone into this book.

Caroline2 I really enjoy Phillipa‘s books too. 👍 3y
Birdsong28 @Caroline2 She is my ultimate author 📚📖 3y
8little_paws do her books need to be read in any particular order? They're all 'related' right? Or a series?
3y
Birdsong28 @8little_paws I have only read the Tudor court series them in publishing order as when I discovered the author she hadn't finished the series so I caught up and read it as she published but it is probably better to read it in chronological order. Look on her website for more information https://www.philippagregory.com/ 3y
8little_paws @birdsong28 thank you!! I looked her up on amazon, and got totally confused haha.
