Around the time #WeNeedDiverseBooks came up, one of the many issues being raised was publishing's #whitewashing of covers when it came to marginalized characters. This includes opting for a silhouetted or faceless person, which is disproportionate to the straight, white counterpart. While I get silhouettes can be aesthetically pleasing, it's important to be mindful about *why* they're being used.
