pan⭐️⭐️ I thought Will Smith was supposed to be likable? I‘ve always been indifferent, liking Fresh Prince, but not many of his films. I‘m just gonna say it: This is one of the worst celebrity memoirs I‘ve ever read. It‘s an incessant boasting of fame and riches. He uttered some iteration of his being “the biggest movie star in the world” so often, I wish I‘d kept count. Humble, he is not. Very little of this felt sincere. Massively disappointing.

Cinfhen Oh wow!!! I felt SO DIFFERENTLY. I LOVED his Philly swag and though he was not “humble”, he came across as someone who has experienced tremendous success but felt gratitude to his parents & his hometown roots. I had such a different reaction/ listening experience. Sorry you hated it. 2y

ravenlee I‘ve never understood the appeal. I‘ve only seen a handful of Fresh Prince episodes and never got it. I thought MiB was okay but nothing special, and I loathed the live-action Aladdin (I mean, everything, but specifically the new genie). I just don‘t get it! But so many people have been raving about this book! 2y

ravenlee I‘m so relieved it‘s not just me! 😆I know I watched the whole movie but I couldn‘t tell you anything about it. And I think I saw something else he was in (Enemy of the State? Or something?) that was equally unimpressive. I will just never understand. 2y

Reggie I like a lot of his stuff but lately with his and Jada‘s TMI marriage and him pushing his kids, kids that don‘t really seem to want to be in the spotlight, on us, he just seems real attention hungry lately. 2y

kamoorephoto I will say I read that and took it as that was the phase he was going through at that time, when all that shit WAS important to him. Upon completing the book I felt like he had come to a lot of revelations and gone on a journey of understanding where he knew that a lot of that stuff didn‘t matter at all. He knew that he‘d lose his wife if he didn‘t wake up. His family is most important. He needed to forgive his dad. I read it and saw a journey. 2y
