It was never just a game . . .
When Amy MacKenzie agrees to attend a meeting at a local spiritualist church, the last person she expects to hear calling to her from beyond the grave is her son. The son whom she'd only spoken to an hour before.
Then the body of a young man is found inside a neolithic stone circle high above the city of Glasgow and forensic scientist Rhona MacLeod is soon on the case.

EadieB The hands have been severed and there is a stone in the victim's mouth with the number five scratched on it. DI Michael McNab is certain it's a gangland murder, but Rhona isn't convinced. When a second body is found in similar circumstances, a pattern begins to emerge, of a killer intent on masterminding a gruesome Druidic game that everyone will be forced to play. 2y
EadieB This book is completely different than the other books in the series. It feels like I'm reading a different series. McNab seems to be the interest in this book. I'm not sure where this series is going but I'm not sure that I like it. It was a bit boring at times and a bit too long. Hopefully, the next book will be better. 2y
Tove_Reads Yup. I see I have chosen pick, must have pressed wrong. Was not exactly a good read. 2y

EadieB @Tove_Reads No I agree! 2y
Tove_Reads I will read the next one now, and sadly the description sounds like “no, not this again”. Doesn‘t sound like I will enjoy it. Let‘s hope I‘m wrong. 2y
EadieB @Tove_Reads It seems to be going into witchcraft! 2y
Tove_Reads Sadly. Weird. The series stated out great. Then she added more pages, which the books didn‘t need, and then weird subject. Also, less about Rhona, and I find her to be a good character. 2y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I like Rhona too. She definitely started out great but seems to be going in a different direction now! 2y
TheAromaofBooks I'm always sad when an author takes a series in what feels like a completely different direction. Why not just start a new series?? 2y
EadieB @TheAromaofBooks That‘s so true! 2y
Andrew65 These are becoming a bit more marginal reads. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 You're right! She seems to be going into a supernatural mode! (edited) 2y
