This is Anthony the Great, Anthony of the Desert, considered the original desert father, and erroneously believed to be the father of Christian ascetics. I fear he would be proud of the work of some of these parents who say Christian children do not need more than an 8th grade education in this day and age. 🙄 I knew he was extreme, but this is a whole other level of extreme. So much for the image of him reading the scriptures in a cave.

I think this is still quite true. If they would stay to themselves, if they would abide by separation of church and state, they would tear each other apart and would die out. Perhaps that is exactly why they cannot abide a separation of church and state. They know with a separation of church and state, they will never survive.

There was not even a consensus on what salvation meant. The church fathers disagreed strongly on who was being saved, from what, and for what!
purpose.

Well, this certainly isn‘t something anyone is teaching in theology/religion class. I would imagine the vast majority (if not all) of those people who claim to be practicing the original version of Christianity aren‘t even aware of this.

I‘ve been listening to this audiobook for a few days now. I‘m quite enjoying it, but I feel like this one would be more fun with a group or at least a partner, because there is so much to discuss here!
