Mehso-so

#CampListy2023 read. I like Fuller's writing. I didn't love this story.
I know most people are not enjoying the Revisitor plot device but I actually didn't mind it, I like a bit if speculative fiction. The buts I didn't get were how the entire staff just abandoned the patients - not one nurse or housekeeper stayed in the safety of the clinic? I am unsure why Fuller felt the need to have Neffy on the outside of the group dynamics and the way 👇

ChaoticMissAdventures Those dynamics were set up did not work for me. I also think only Neffy herself was a flushed out character, everyone else in the story felt 1- dimensional. I was heading to a 3.5 star book due to creativity and writing but then the end came and I didn't like that at all. So ending on a 2.5. 8mo

#Camplisty2023 catch-up
I really adored this. I don't think I have read anything by Sittenfeld, and this was somehow not what I was expecting. Maybe the title was too on the nose? But I loved living with Sally and Noah. They are both amazing people and I particularly liked having more mature main characters in a romantically charged story. The SNL like setting was interesting and the pacing was perfect.

ChaoticMissAdventures Also I LOVE the UK cover so much more than the US one. 8mo
swishandflick Ooh! Definitely love that version of the cover 8mo

Ridiculously behind on #CampListy2023 but did get to this one. It took me 2 goes to get into it, but once I fell into the rhythm I really enjoyed it.
As an atheist I have an interesting relationship with religion, and I enjoyed reading Lamya's take on Islam, and really liked how she wove her tellings of the stories with her own story. I think it worked well as a mosaic of writing.
Overall very enjoyable & I liked getting to know the author.

SamAnne I loved this one as well. 8mo
