Iliad: A New Translation | Caroline Alexander
post image

Just came across the link to this interview with Emily Wilson that @batsy posted on the first Litsy post about this translation of The Iliad, and the woman is IN MY HEAD. Even more interested to read her translation of The Odyssey knowing more about her.

JLaurenceCohen I just got Wilson's new Odyssey translation in paperback. 5y
kgriffith @JLaurenceCohen I‘ve heard nothing but rave reviews. I got it during last year‘s NYE kindle sale iirc and haven‘t gotten to it yet. Probably worked out okay, as now I‘ll get to it in order :) 5y
batsy Oh, nice! It's such a fantastic interview and I liked her immediately :) Although this reminds me that I've read neither Alexander's Iliad or Wilson's Odyssey this year 🙈 #BookNerdHallOfShame 5y

LauraJ Someone host a #buddyread! I need to read her translation too. 5y
kgriffith @LauraJ someone else is going to have to volunteer, I am not allowed to volunteer my time to anything until I complete my undergrad 😂 5y
saresmoore @batsy I didn‘t get around to them, either. Suppose I have a week left to at least start The Odyssey... The beginning with all the dudes in council is just sooo boring. 🙄😆 5y
batsy @saresmoore That's OK, we shouldn't feel bad. There's always next year, or the following year... 😂 5y
LauraJ @kgriffith My undergrad minor was Greek & Roman culture, but it‘s been 30 years since I‘ve read the classics. 5y
