Bailedbailed

I can‘t believe I bailed on this one. I really admire Isaacson as a writer, but half-way through, and I am having trouble connecting with Franklin as a person. One of the reasons I love Biographies so much is the ability to connect with, learn from and find myself in the people. This wasn‘t happening right now. Maybe another go later will be better.

I confess that I do not entirely approve of this Constitution at present; but sir, I am not sure that I will never approve of it: For, having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged, by better information or fuller consideration, to change opinions even on important subjects, which I once thought right, but found to be otherwise.

Pickpick

Short and an easy read, filled with Lawson's delightful illustrations. I clearly remember watching the Disney version of this story. According to this biography of Benjamin Franklin, many of that man's inventions and diplomatic decisions were made with the aid of this book's narrator - Amos the mouse, who spent much of his time living in Ben's hat. Obviously ridiculous but still a great deal of fun. I especially enjoyed when other famous ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) historical people had mice of their own! I really enjoy Lawson's writing and illustrations, and it was a pleasure to read this 1951 edition that I picked up almost 20 years ago.

TheAromaofBooks @Daisey - I also have Captain Kidd's Cat by the same author, but still haven't read it. And I just found out there is one “written“ by Paul Revere's horse!! I need them all!! 😂 1y
