The sound of champagne, and somewhere in the garden the music of violin and flute. There were flowers everywhere, right out onto the front steps where the balustrades were twined with white and pink roses that filled the air with a heady perfume.
This is my introduction to Inspector Linley. I think I might like him.

Tex2Flo @gradcat I thought I knew the character, but evidently didn‘t. This turned up as a cheap buy on Amazon and I couldn‘t resist. From your comment, I must be in for a treat. 5y
gradcat Just go with the earlier ones, in order if possible. The author definitely does things with the characters chronologically. Also, some people have not enjoyed her last three or four, perhaps owing to a critical event in the book just before that angered lots of her fans. I like all of them, but perhaps the latest ones haven‘t been her best. Just FYI 👍❤️😊 5y
