Wars of the Roses: Trinity
Wars of the Roses: Trinity | Conn Iggulden
17 posts | 8 read | 1 reading | 10 to read
The brilliant retelling of the Wars of the Roses continues with Trinity, the second gripping novel in the new series from historical fiction master, Conn Iggulden. 1454: King Henry VI has remained all but exiled in Windsor Castle, struck down by his illness for over a year, his eyes vacant, his mind a blank. His fiercely loyal wife and Queen, Margaret of Anjou, safeguards her husband's interests, hoping that her son Edward will one day know the love of his father. Richard Duke of York, Protector of the Realm, extends his influence throughout the kingdom with each month that Henry slumbers. The Earls of Salisbury and Warwick make up a formidable trinity with Richard, and together they seek to break the support of those who would raise their colours in the name of Henry and his Queen. But when the King unexpectedly recovers his senses and returns to London to reclaim his throne, the balance of power is once again thrown into turmoil. The clash of the Houses of Lancaster and York will surely mean a war to tear England apart . . . Following on from Stormbird, Trinity is the second epic instalment in master storyteller Conn Iggulden's new Wars of the Roses series. Fans of Game of Thrones and The Tudors will be gripped from the word go. Praise for Stormbird: 'Pacey and juicy, and packed with action' Sunday Times 'Energetic, competent stuff; Iggulden knows his material and his audience' Independent 'A novel that seamlessly combines narrative, historical credence and great knowledge of the period' Daily Express 'A page-turning thriller' Mail on Sunday 'Superbly plotted and paced' The Times

This series is so good! I imagine it would be so easy to get bogged down in details writing this given how complicated the series of events were but Iggulden keeps it simple and easy to follow so you don‘t get lost but can picture everything and have all the information you need. Can‘t wait to read the next one!

JazzFeathers And that's not easy to do in general, but especially in historical fiction. Hat off to Iggulden 😄 5y
RJHowe Conn is true to history and brings it to like. We are lucky to have him. 5y

On book 2 of this series. I have been living in England in 1400s for some time now. Read the first one, then skipped to one by Plaidy on Henry VII now back to this.

Edmund Tudor, father of Henry VII, died 1456. This scene is set in 1460, so either there has been a mistake or there was another Edmund?

Obsessed with this book, I wish I could just sit and read all day...

CoverToCoverGirl Just finished reading / listening to this entire series ❤️❤️❤️ it's EPIC, brilliantly written and I felt I was actually there as the story unfolded! Didn't want it to end. Warrick was my favorite. 7y
WitchPlusCat @CoverToCoverGirl I'm trying to read as slow as possible so it can last longer lol I'm loving Warwick so far and Derry. Okay, I like every single one of these characters, and I like how it's hard to pick a side. 7y
CoverToCoverGirl @WitchPlusCat that's one aspect that I really liked, Iggulden remained unbiased and just told the story.. he humanized both sides. He wanted you to become invested in characters on both sides! 7y
WitchPlusCat @CoverToCoverGirl exactly. I'll be definitely getting more of Conn Iggulden's books 7y
