For Ava Whalen, a new marriage and a move to St. Simons Island means a new beginning. But what she doesnt realize is that her marriage will take her on an unexpected journey into the deep recesses of her past that will transform her forever For as long as she can remember, Ava Whalen has struggled with a sense of not belonging, and now, at thirty-four, she still feels stymied by her family. Then she meets child psychologist Matthew Frazier, and thinks her days of loneliness are behind her. After a whirlwind romance, they impulsively elope, and Ava moves to Matthews ancestral home on St. Simons Island off the coast of Georgia. But after the initial excitement, Ava is surprised to discover that true happiness continues to elude her. There is much she doesnt know about Matthew, including the mysterious circumstances surrounding his first wifes death. And her new home seems to hold as many mysteries and secrets as her new husband. Feeling adrift, Ava throws herself into uncovering Matthews family history and that of the island, not realizing that she has a connection of her own to this placeor that her obsession with the past could very well destroy her future.

Pickpick

I read most of White‘s books, this is my favourite. The main character, Ava, her story is layered with mystery, ghostly spirits, love, forgiveness, and possibility that two souls can be forever intertwined. The vivid detail of the sights and smells are so real it makes the story so much more exciting. Sea Change is an enchanting story, opening your mind and heart to the possibility that the universe is bigger than we know it. This is a must read!

Happy Friday and hello August. I thought I would share my reading plans for the upcoming weekend, I‘m definitely in the mood to read, read, read. My current read Sea Change by Karen White, good so far. Then onto a reread, JAWS by Peter Benchley, nothing like a little seaside terror. Then on to a new release A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay.

What are you reading this weekend?

This one took me longer to get into than previous Karen White novels, but overall the story did not disappoint. I love the way this writer uses the supernatural in subtle and believable ways, allowing the reader to explore the nature of reality, without making huge leaps of faith. I liked/invested in some characters more than others, which is perhaps my biggest criticism. Still, a quick and enjoyable read from one of my favorites.

Cortg Those smooshy faces. We had a boxer that did the army crawl under the bed and slept on the floor beneath us, snored all night long. Drove my husband crazy. I loved it! 2y
