The Mediator #4: Darkest Hour
The Mediator #4: Darkest Hour | Meg Cabot
9 posts | 65 read | 6 to read
When the nineteenth--century ghost of Maria de Silva wakes her up in the middle of the night, Suze knows this is no ordinary visitation -- and not just from the knife at her throat, either. In life, Maria was the fiance of Jesse -- the same Jesse who was murdered a hundred and fifty years before. The same Jesse Suze is in love with. Maria threatens Suze: The backyard construction must cease. Suze has a pretty good idea what -- or rather, who -- Maria doesn't want found. But in solving Jesse's murder, will Suze end up losing him forever?

With this one we have a bingo! 🥳 this one took me a bit to get into and we are getting major unrealistic stuff but still enjoying them. What can I say? I‘m easily amused! There‘s also a little mystery that has my attention! 😆
Glad to have an early bingo so no major pressure to read a bunch, still going to read my list of course! #bookspinbingo

Not my absolute favorite book in the series but another quick, enjoyable read. 4 down, 2 to go and I will have made a decent amount of progress on #mountTBR 😜.

Nostalgia time..
I think I read this series for the first time when I was 13 or so. 8 years later, and I still think the love story between Suze and Jesse is much better than Twilight.

When I moved here almost 3 months ago, I brought two books with me (Sorcerer to the Crown and Walking in Berlin). Now I'm in double digits and I have no clue how I'm going to get them all back to Australia when the time comes! Also, is anyone else driven absolutely round the bend by the way that English-language spines read top-to-bottom, but other languages like German read bottom-to top? I can't deal, I have to keep them separate 😂 #germanlyf

alanacristin Yes! I have to separate my French and Japanese books for the same reason! 😦😦😦 7y

I REMEMBER THAT CREEP PAUL SLATER FROM WHEN I FIRST READ THESE!! He only has a smallish role in this book - but he'll be back! I had forgotten about his little brother tho (who isn't a creep). Jesse's bones have been discovered in the backyard - and that's just the start of this books misadventures...

queerbookreader Literally HATE HIM he's probably one of the worst villains I've read about omg 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @lemonlime799, my memories are vague but my dislike is strong! 8y

My favorite female character list is about three miles long, but for today's #augustphotochallenge I've decided that it's Suze Simon from Meg Cabot's The Mediator series. Looooove Suze. She beats ass, makes sure her blow out still looks good, is a minor human disaster, but also manages to get with the bae af ghost in her bedroom. Suze kills it. 👊🏽

[DELETED] 2232195534 I love this series! Serious ghosting and funny as well. Nice pick!! 8y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I need to try a Meg Cabot book! 8y

JanuarieTimewalker13 @lemonlime799 I def want recs!! Don't know when I'll get to them, but give me your fave that maybe isn't part of a series, maybe? 8y
queerbookreader @JanuarieTimewalker13 Hmm, she writes a lot of series, that's kind of her major thing. I just picked up a one-time book she wrote and it's on my list to read in the next 3 weeks, so I'll let you know how that one goes! 8y
