A little bit too much deus ex machina in the plot set up but I loved the characters & how the relationship developed. There‘s a bit of a Beauty & the Beast vibe with Dominic as the young handsome man trying to find his way after getting out of the army & Luke as the older grump with high walls around his heart. Another great romance from Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell! I love the emphasis on family here, and on fixing problems instead of writing people off on account of them. These two guys work hard not only to connect with each other but also to keep their often awkward family lives as healthy as possible. It's great.

The audiobook is mostly well done, too, but Luke's narrator has the sort of crisp diction I often struggle with. #romantsy #24in48

I've got some work to do tomorrow morning thanks to the two sick days I just endured (ugh), but it's hands-on-brain-off stuff so I'll be able to finish the tagged audiobook while I'm at it. Then it's on to a mix of comics, nonfiction, novels, and serials for the rest of #24in48!

I loved this story. It's nominated for a RITA Award and it's easy to see why. Two military Staten Island men, one older, one younger, trying to find themselves. Characters were so deep and real. #romantsy #romance

The perfect book at the perfect time, I read it in one sitting this morning. Dominic is incredibly sympathetic as he tries to figure out his new place in life and finds love at the same time and Luke is adorably grumpy when his world is turned upside down by Dominic bursting into his life.
