1 post | 1 read
"A cozy mystery with ghosts, murder, and lots of gardening ... Dante has come to the small coastal town of Te Kohe, New Zealand, for a fresh start in life. But he doesn't want to open a BnB, or save a charming bookshop, or start a romance with a single mother in need of rescuing. He just wants to forget about his past career (which involved a lot of dead bodies) and have everyone leave him the hell alone. Unfortunately for Dante, life has other plans..." -- Back of book.

Pickpick

Dante (40-ish) moved from the UK to NZ after retiring from working for MI-6 about 100 days ago. His peace and quiet is destroyed when Charlie, the gardener, knocks on his door. Then Ted, shady rich guy, blackmails Dante into working as his bodyguard. And someone shoots at Ted. The someone is suspected to have been Charlie. Should Dante help clear Charlie's name? Or clean the house, use an alias and leave the country?

julesG Cozy mystery with some magical realism. Set in New Zealand. 4d
julesG Low pick for writing - could have benefited from more editing/tidying up (especially all the "he said/she said/Pete said/Dante asked/...). Extra points for narration though. 4d
