When Valerie, now in her sixties, learns that her Gen Z co-worker, Anna, has effectively been fired for rejecting the bosss advances, Valerie becomes her champion, and so ensures that justice will prevail. But it brings back traumatic memories of when Valerie herself was the victim of sexual assault when working as an aspiring TV reporter in 1970s London. Exposing the unfair consequences of saying no in the workplace, the book vividly and with warm humour illustrates the power of standing up for another womans rights, and your own.

I enjoyed that it was set where I live and I recognised places. The general story covered important issues but not sure why it just missed the mark for me. Thanks @CarolynM for altering me to this book. Not something I would usually pick up . Got me thinking of situations in my past. I understood what she was saying about attitudes to sexual assaults, rape etc over time. Lived through a lot of it.

A woman seeks justice for modern and historic sexual harassment/assault in her workplaces. A worthy topic & decently written, but I think a novel‘s theme should emerge from the story & characters rather than dictate them as it does here. Read for my IRL book group. #ozfiction
