Jodi Dillon has been friends with Zack Thrasher since second grade, meaning she was pulled into his friend group in high school almost by accident. Julian, Lucy, Paige, & of course Zack Thrasher, they're rich, sophisticated, & gorgeous - everything Jodi isn't. The group occasionally let an outsider in for a short while for kicks but it isn't long before they are iced out, rejected, 'thrashed'. (continued)

OutsmartYourShelf No wonder she feels out of place, as if she's a tag-along to the hottest friend clique in town, & always wonders if she is about to be the next one 'thrashed'?

When Emily Mills (a girl who wanted to be part of the group) dies, the group are interviewed by the police. Rumours abound that Emily was bullied by the others into committing suicide, rumours confirmed by Emily's journal.

OutsmartYourShelf As everyone turns on the group, & the others start to distance themselves from Jodi, she sees her friends through new eyes. Did Emily make it all up because she was rejected by the group or do the other 'Thrashers' have secrets even from Jodi?

Wow, I loved this one! You know when you start reading a book & you get that feeling that you just know it's going to be a 5 star read? From the first page this was a cracker.

OutsmartYourShelf None of group are angels (even Jodi has her secrets) & sometimes aren't even that nice to each other, but they also have their good qualities. It makes for a tense read which grabs your attention & doesn't let go for a minute. If you like twisty YA thrillers with morally grey characters, then check this one out. 5🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, HarperCollins UK, Children's/Harper Fire, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

'The Thrashers' is a solid YA horror novel. The novel follows the aftermath of a teen's suicide. Some believe the social group known as The Thrashers is responsible. It nicely straddles the boundary between reality and ghostly revenge until the very end of the book. I had an issue with the end, but it wasn't that grave. The narration was great as well.
4 stars. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC.

4⭐This suicide mystery started off with a bang, but ended with a fizzle. Trigger warning the very first thing that happens in this book is a suicide. At the side of the person who dies is left a notebook that says the thrasher. The thrasher happens to be a group of five students who are led by Zachary Thrasher. They‘re more collection of friends than any type of organized group. For our wealthy one is not. It is well known that to be thrashed is t

LibrarianRyan be brought into their group to experience the high life just to be burned out and left for ashes at the end. Well, that habit is coming back to bite them as one person killed themselves over being thrashed. Our main character Jody is the one character without money. She was Zachary Thrasher, best friends and second grade and so she gets to stay with the group. You can tell she has a thing for Zack even though for Zack, this is all platonic. When 1mo
LibrarianRyan When the story gets started, it‘s a few months after the suicide a journal has been found and now all of the thrashers are under investigation for causing the suicide. What follows is both a forward and a backwards timeline of what did happen what‘s happening now. We introduced to each of the quirks of the characters what makes them tick what makes them likely to have done something. And also what makes Jody different besides the money thing. 1mo
LibrarianRyan This book was addicting. It was very easy to keep listening once it got started. For me the final wrap up in the last hour was kind of like that‘s it but at the same time that‘s kind of how life is. I do like the epilogue. There is a bit of a supernatural element wound throughout this book and you‘re constantly wondering if this is supposed to be a sci-fi book or if the kids are just freaking out. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you ar 1mo
