Well, Actually
Well, Actually | Mazey Eddings
9 posts | 8 read | 7 to read
An utterly delightful and sexy second-chance romance between a black cat and golden retriever with Mazey Edding's signature sparkling voice! Eva Kitt never expected to be the host of Sausage Talk, interviewing B-list celebrities over lukewarm hot dogs, instead of pursuing the journalism career she dreamed of. But when Eva's impromptu public call out of her college ex goes viral, she's thrust into the spotlight. It doesn't help said ex is Rylie Cooper, a beloved social media personality that has built a platform on deconstructing toxic masculinity and teaching men how to be good partners. Forced to confront Rylie on a live episode of Sausage Talk, he offers Eva a deal: allow him to take her on a series of dates to make up for his toxic behavior, then debrief them on his channel to show he's changed. Eva refuses to play nice, but agrees to the scheme to advance her own career and continue defaming Rylie's good name. When these manufactured dates start to feel real, Eva has to wonder if the boy that broke her heart has become the man that might heal it.

Had a fun experience at the first literary festival in Belmont. Mazey Eddings and Ali Hazelwood were the headliners. There were fun trivia events and a ton of local authors as well. The romance panel in the evening was so great! Hopefully this will be an annual event 😊

BarkingMadRead I was supposed to go to this! I even had a VIP ticket but I thought that was tonight and it was last night 🙈 between that and a migraine, I missed it all! 1w

Not quite as funny as a Meghan Quinn book, but still cute. I just don‘t think that I am a slow-burn person 🤪!

4/5

Eva goes viral when she criticizes her social media famous ex on TikTok. She, and Riley Cooper, have to do damage control by working together by going on dates and discussing them on his podcast. But Riley doesn't seem to care how rude Eva is and something begins to grow between.

I loved the chemistry between Evan and Riley. I did think it took Eva way too long to figure out her job was terrible and using her.

With a 40% Litsy rating, I‘m clearly in the minority here but GAH! I adored this book and the characters, both the primary couple and their friends. The only people I didn‘t like are the ones I‘m not supposed to like. I laughed (so much so that I got side eye from Tash) and I cried. I identified with a lot of Eva‘s insecurities and I loved watching her and Rylie work towards their HEA. *happy sigh*

Eva was the discarded middle child and negative experiences compound her adult views of self. She needed her own therapy. And no, a meeting with your potential boyfriend and his longtime therapist is not couple‘s therapy (and not recommended IRL)! Eva finds the intestinal fortitude to bring rise her inner badassness but it didn‘t convince me her issues were resolved.

DGRachel Oh definitely not resolved! That girl definitely needs individual therapy. 😅 2w
marleed @DGRachel This is one of those reading experiences where one thing bothered me so much that I found myself unforgiving of things I might otherwise enjoyed. Sending the emotionally scarred FMC to couple‘s therapy with her bf‘s therapist is badly informed - I‘m surprised it got through editing. Hey, even I learned things about what not to do in therapy by reading the tagged🤣 (edited) 2w

I didn‘t make it out to a bookstore for Bookstore Romance Day, but my Aardvark box arrived with the tagged book, so I‘m counting it as my Romance day purchase. 😎

Any other NC littens planning on attending the first Belmont LitFest on Aug 30th?
I'm so pleasantly surprised to see a relatively small town with a newer indie bookstore put on what is looking to be a pretty big event with some big name authors. Mazey Eddings is the headliner, promoting her newest book Well Actually

Butterfinger That looks fun. I can't commit at the moment, but I would really like to go. May I let you know around the 25th? 1mo
peanutnine @Butterfinger of course! I'm going either way with my sister but would love to meet up if you are available! ☺️ 1mo
DGRachel I‘m on the fence about it. It‘s going to be peoply 🫣 and end of August is likely to be either rainy or Deep South Hot. 🥵 But…Ali Hazelwood is supposed to be attending and I think a lot of the other authors are local/local-ish, which is really cool. 🤔 1mo

So happy to read this while available on #netgalley for 72 hours. Funny, challenging, and steamy, this enemies to lovers had it all. Eddings is such a gifted writer, managing to weave deeper themes into the story that make it so satisfying. Highly recommend! Releases August 4th.
