Had a fun experience at the first literary festival in Belmont. Mazey Eddings and Ali Hazelwood were the headliners. There were fun trivia events and a ton of local authors as well. The romance panel in the evening was so great! Hopefully this will be an annual event 😊
Not quite as funny as a Meghan Quinn book, but still cute. I just don‘t think that I am a slow-burn person 🤪!
4/5
Eva goes viral when she criticizes her social media famous ex on TikTok. She, and Riley Cooper, have to do damage control by working together by going on dates and discussing them on his podcast. But Riley doesn't seem to care how rude Eva is and something begins to grow between.
I loved the chemistry between Evan and Riley. I did think it took Eva way too long to figure out her job was terrible and using her.

With a 40% Litsy rating, I‘m clearly in the minority here but GAH! I adored this book and the characters, both the primary couple and their friends. The only people I didn‘t like are the ones I‘m not supposed to like. I laughed (so much so that I got side eye from Tash) and I cried. I identified with a lot of Eva‘s insecurities and I loved watching her and Rylie work towards their HEA. *happy sigh*
Eva was the discarded middle child and negative experiences compound her adult views of self. She needed her own therapy. And no, a meeting with your potential boyfriend and his longtime therapist is not couple‘s therapy (and not recommended IRL)! Eva finds the intestinal fortitude to bring rise her inner badassness but it didn‘t convince me her issues were resolved.
I didn‘t make it out to a bookstore for Bookstore Romance Day, but my Aardvark box arrived with the tagged book, so I‘m counting it as my Romance day purchase. 😎
Any other NC littens planning on attending the first Belmont LitFest on Aug 30th?
I'm so pleasantly surprised to see a relatively small town with a newer indie bookstore put on what is looking to be a pretty big event with some big name authors. Mazey Eddings is the headliner, promoting her newest book Well Actually

So happy to read this while available on #netgalley for 72 hours. Funny, challenging, and steamy, this enemies to lovers had it all. Eddings is such a gifted writer, managing to weave deeper themes into the story that make it so satisfying. Highly recommend! Releases August 4th.
