In the latest installment of the maid series, a televised antiques show comes to the hotel and the staff get the first crack at them, where Molly learns something extraordinary. We also get Gran‘s backstory in a separate timeline, which I wasn‘t sure about at first as it pulls us out of the hotel, but it did work. And once again, Lauren Ambrose is perfect on the audio.

This was a nice wrap-up to the trilogy but much less about the mystery than the previous instalments. Prose did a really nice job of bringing everything together and giving us Gran‘s story. It is hard to call it a mystery, though.

I really liked this, but I can see where others may not. This is less mystery, more family drama. This is less about Molly. This is her grandmother‘s story, which is very sad. So I can see fans of the lighter previous books may not love this one. It is an intriguing story though and I definitely recommend. You will want to read the previous books first to get the full impact. 4⭐️

“The Maid‘s Secret” isn‘t a bad book, however it‘s definitely my least favorite of the trilogy. It was a tad depressing at times, but I understand how important it was to include Flora‘s history in relation to the current day plot. The book adds a lot of depth to several of the characters, but I still don‘t love it as much as I do the others. The book ends with a nice and satisfying conclusion so I appreciated that.

I have read all of Nita Prose's Maid books, and this one is my favorite! Molly the Maid takes some things to work to get appraised because there is an antique show filming there, and the workers can bering something. She takes an egg at the last minute. Prose uses this egg to tell the backstory of Molly's Gran. We get to learn her history, which I loved. Prose does this through a dairy left for Molly. There is a mystery to solve ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read because the egg goes missing, but I enjoyed the backstory more. Prose continues to develop her characters, not only the MC, but all of them. If you enjoy cozy mysteries and haven't read The Maid Series yet, what in the world are you waiting for? I would suggest you start with The Maid. That way, you won't be lost.

This is the 3rd book in the 'Molly the Maid' series, and it is better to start with the first one, “The Maid“. In this one we get to read Gran‘s diary and learn the story of her life. The mystery in this one (in the present time) involves a Faberge egg stolen during an auction at the hotel. This is a light, humorous mystery series with a touch of romance, perfect for a little escape. I really enjoy them. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. 4.25/5
