Collins packs a lot into this book - aside from the interesting mystery of what the Silence Factory makes and how it makes it we also have various social commentaries.

We touch on alternative religions, the taking of culturally sacred items, child labour and the morality of business. When does a cost become too much?

Intriguing and compelling reading.

my favourite thing about reading this (aside from Bridget Collins ability to captivate me with a story where I never at any point have any idea what to expect) is that a friend read this a couple of weeks ahead of me - and as such was subjected to all my thoughts from “does he want to fuck that old man” to “he‘s just followed him into the factory - like a complete idiot” without giving me any spoilers (emotional support, I guess?)

Henry is going through it.

The man is (completely) delusional and working hard to ignore some very red flags… I fear he‘s doomed by the narrative and yet I still hold out (a little bit of) hope.

I should go to sleep though. I do have work… later today 😜 (oops)

This was an interesting read, its quite a dark story and you do find yourself feeling rather sorry for the creatures involved in this. The story is told by him and Sophia further in the past. It does take a bit of following and i was slow to get into the story but it eventually drew me in. The plot is a slow and steady build. The ending was dark and then hopeful which really finished the story well. #Netgalley 3*
