2 posts | 4 read | 4 to read
How does a baby begin? What makes a baby male or female? How is a baby born? Children have plenty of questions about reproduction and babies??and about sex and sexuality, too. Its So Amazing! provides the answers??with fun, accurate, comic-book-style artwork and a clear, lively text that reflects the interests of children age seven and up in how things work, while giving them a healthy understanding of their bodies. Created by the author and illustrator of Its Perfectly Normal, this forthright and funny book has been newly updated for its fifteenth anniversary.

Gone are the sterile “just the facts Ma‘am” days and thankfully I have these to put into my kids hands. 😅 They take a comical, accessible approach that makes crossing that awkward bridge easier for everyone and at the same time provides detailed useful information. I hadn‘t known about this series until just recently and perfect timing bc couple of weeks ago my kids repeated some normal kid gossip that told me it was time to step up the facts.

readinginthedark Have you read Baby Tree? It‘s a really bare bones step to explaining. My son kept asking about babies, so I read him that. Looks like we‘ll be grabbing this next! (edited) 6y
Tamra @readinginthedark no, but it looks good for younger kids! I think at 7 & 10 mine are ready for more detail. The Amazing book is recommended for 7 & up and the other 10 & up. Both are factually detailed, which I don‘t mind, but some parents might. 😉 You might want to review a library copy first. I plan to just leave it lying around to spark conversation. 😳 Hahaha 6y
readinginthedark I think I‘ll feel most awkward about the sex part. Maybe I‘ll let his father do that. 😆 So far, we‘ve talked more about what goes on inside the body—sperm, egg, etc. 6y

Nate's to the age where a frank facts of life conversation is around the corner. So I've been finding different books/resources at work - this one is 👍🏼👍🏼. Though, the illustrations are ridiculously silly.
