Palate cleanser heist/romance story accompanied today's #audiosewing.

A bit of Ocean's 8/11/12/13, a great crew including an octogenarian grease person. It was fun to listen to.

No interference from the #creatures today, they are both soaking up the sunshine.

Do you ever have a book that just seems like it should be PERFECT for you, but somehow the notes are just a little off? I read about half of this romcom, by an author I've enjoyed in the past, and just... couldn't jive? Everything about this plot sounds like it should be up my alley, but I found Simi annoying and was confused about what Desai was trying to do with Jack's character - I think I'm supposed to both be unsure if he's a good guy while ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) also shipping him with Simi, but he just felt sneaky and manipulative to me and I couldn't quite get behind him as the love interest. I'm also really over the whole “slutty old lady sidekick“ character where someone in their 70s/80s sleeps with every penis she can find and talks about incessantly and we're supposed to find it funny/inspiring that someone her age is still getting around!!! Just. No. It's not even her age, I just don't ⬇ 8mo
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) need a character who details every sexual exploit she's had every time we see her on the page. I'm really struggling with modern romcoms that seem to think that if they don't mention sex in some form on every page I'm going to forget that I'm reading a romance.

This one had a lot of good ingredients, so even though they didn't gel for me, I can see them working for someone else. I wanted them to, but I just wasn't feeling another 150pgs.
