I've really enjoyed Mariko Tamaki's very grounded run on Detective Comics, which harmonizes well with James Tynion's concurrent run on Batman. We must be having a real fungal moment because this story, like The Last of Us, also features a fungus.

I'm a broken record about how wildly good Dan Mora's art is, but it's so cool to see one of my favorite artists drawing my favorite character. I love Mariko Tamaki's pacing, too.

CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen There was a time when I collected every Batman comic I could get my hands on. Then finances became an issue. Whine. I have read some graphic novels here and there, but even that has not been very recent. Batman is my favorite superhero mostly because he‘s just human. And I appreciate why he is so driven. I have been a fan of The Dark Knight for more years than I care to remember. (edited) 10mo
JLaurenceCohen @CatLass007 this is The Dark Knight's 15th anniversary, and it's still the best superhero movie. If you haven't read Scott Snyder's Batman comics, I highly recommend them. 10mo

CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen I just looked up Scott Snyder‘s Batman. I borrowed The Court of Owls from the library. I may have borrowed City of Owls also. Pretty much a wow! (edited) 10mo

CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen I just re-read our exchange and it dawned on me that you were talking about The Dark Knight movie. I was thinking about Frank Miller‘s The Dark Knight Returns. Which one was the movie you were talking about? Was that the one with Heath Ledger? I can‘t even remember who played Batman in that one. But I still remember sitting in the theater and the gut punch of the opening of Tim Burton‘s Batman starring Michael Keaton. (cont)⬇️ 10mo
CatLass007 I think it was Danny Elfman‘s score that gave the movie an extra oomph. And I think it‘s the only Tim Burton movie I‘ve ever liked. That movie was groundbreaking, in both good and bad ways. It was the re-launch of the superhero genre. And that‘s what‘s both good and bad. Hollywood never knows when to stop. The market has become glutted with some pretty awful movies. 10mo
