The War of the Dwarves
The War of the Dwarves | Markus Heitz
11 posts | 14 read | 1 to read
The dwarves have gone to battle and they have been victorious. But outside the realm, dark forces are at work.. . A secret army of Orcs, made immortal by the hidden powers of the Black Water, now marches towards Girdlegard, set to unleash its fury upon the kingdom. Sooner than they realize, Tungdil and his comrades will need to summon all their courage to do battle against this bloodthirsty horde. The Orcs are not the only threat. An unspeakable new power is growing and threatens the very existence of the dwarves. But both enemies have forgotten one very important truth: a dwarf is never more dangerous than when total obliteration seems inevitable . . .

Bailedbailed

First time I have pulled the rip cord in a couple of years. The first book was very very good but even with My Farmer's Austrian I could tell some words and phrases had not been translated properly (the book was written in German). The second book was slow and cliched with lifeless characters and weak prose. Based on the quality of the first I plan to attempt it in the original language if my studies are successful.

Pickpick

This story continues the immersive world created by Markus Heitz. The characters grow a little darker but the story is full of adventure and fantastic creatures.

500 pages in and I can't do it. Nothing has happened. The first book had female and male characters with agency and a solid goal. The sequel is a muddled mess. Are the orcs the evil to be defeated or the alf or the dwarf killers? I get the feeling the intrigue of this book is an attempt to imitate the success of Game of Thrones. I don't want to give this book anymore attention. Pass do not buy.

I am looking for some music to listen to while reading fantasy novels. Any suggestions?

I have my breakfast and a book and a full day off to enjoy it. The breakfast will probably only last about five minutes though.

Fantasy novels are great for when I want to be hiking but I can't.
