Explore Life and People in Lesotho: Lesotho Travel Trips and Guide | Jesus Garcia-Magana
2 posts | 1 read
Lesotho is one of the most off-the-beaten-path countries in Africa's southern regions. Why? For starters, it's landlocked and completely encircled by South Africa's popular lands, which means it's not exactly the easiest spot to travel to. Then there's the veneer, which is mostly made up of impassable mountains of harsh rock and wide plateaus of dusty sandstone — hardly the most navigable terrain! Lesotho's problems, however, are matched by its beauty. The backcountry is untamed and undeveloped. Only the odd peppering of thatched San huts breaks up the vast grass plains. The great mountain rivers are only just being tamed by even greater mountain dams. There are awesome waterfalls or valley panoramas around every corner, and the trekking – well, the trekking is simply to-die-for! Since this guide has been specially prepared to provide you with all the useful information you will need with an economical, well studied and profitable route to save time and money. Do not forget to put this guide in your travel luggage and take it with you to Lesotho.

This is a perfect little book to learn all about #Lesotho. Though I‘d probably retitle it to “How Not to Die in Lesotho.” It is an extraordinarily remote country with few accommodations for an ordinary traveler. If you want to hike and camp, then be sure to be wary of flash floods and lightning in the mountains and avoid areas frequented by drug smugglers and military. Bring your own bike and “legs of steel.” It doesn‘t accommodate cyclists ⬇️

Texreader either. If you‘re hiking beware there are no hiking trails, just paths. Always check with the local chief before pitching a tent. Have fun! But I may skip this trip. 😁 #readingafrica2022 @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB 2y

This was just published in July 2022, and couldn't come at a better time since I needed a book for #Lesotho for #readingAfrica2022. And it's free with a Kindle Unlimited membership.

I started it today and it's quite short. The first part is the history of Lesotho, which is the history of Southern Africa. Very interesting.

RebL I‘m admiring this project of yours. 2y
Texreader @RebL I am having loads of fun. I've managed to read so many books for the Africa challenge, and sometimes I get depressed that I might not be able to find a book for every country. So last night I tackled the search yet again, and came up with some spectacular finds! 2y
